Bullying is not allowed in my school.
I will not hit, shove, kick, or punch anyone or anything.
I will not tease, call names or put people down.
I will not gossip or spread rumors.
If I see someone being bullied, I will speak up and go for help.
I will treat everyone with respect and kindness.
I will not be a bully.

Based on the PWCS division-wide survey, Marshall is working to create a school climate that promotes students respecting each other and feeling safe from bullying. Some of the activities and strategies that that school counseling department has implemented are:
Thurgood & Marshall Eagles: "We show respect to each other and feel safe from bullying at school." These eagles are awarded to one grade 4 and 5 class that demonstrate respect toward their classmates. An assessment is done once a month at the beginning of their classroom guidance lesson to assess how students feel about respect and bullying in their class. We track the percentages of students repsonses monthly and post the results on the bulletin board outside of the school counselors' office. We also post the classes that report the highest percentage of respect.
The month of October 2009 clases with the most respect were:
Mrs. Imon's Class

and
Mr. Short's Class

Hermeling's Heroes: This year we are promoting students to give each other Hermeling's Heroes when they see a fellow student demonstrate one or more of the character traits (trustworthiness, respect, responisbility, fairness, caring and citizenship).
